Description
Join us on April 28th at 6:30 PM with our guest speaker Jeannie Jay Park!
Jeannie Jay Park is a Korean American activist and model who has worked in the fashion industry since she was a teenager. Her years of experience as a model have made her familiar with the xenophobic attitudes toward the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. And two years ago, as COVID-19 has resulted in a surge in hate crimes against Asians, Jeannie has joined the chorus of people speaking up. Her activist work revolves around social justice. She has addressed at #StopAsianHate gatherings and co-organised a BIPOC women's solidarity march in the wake of the Atlanta shooting for AAPI to unite with all BIPOC communities. Last year, she started her own brand Sanitation Nation, where the profit will go to Asian American Alliance. Her work and voice didn't go unnoticed. She has been featured in and interviewed by different media to share her story and journey, and she's become popular in the Asian American community, especially among Gen Z.
Jeannie will join us on Zoom on Thursday to talk about her journey and experience in response to the increased number of assaults Asians in NYC and NYU have been experiencing( Jeannie is also an NYU alumna!). She will also discuss overcoming adversity in the creative field and where/how she found the best support during this time, professionally and personally. We'll also feature a Q&A session at the end, so don't miss out on this opportunity to meet Jeannie!
